Jump Care

Caring for your jumps is easy. There are a few simple steps you can do that will keep your jumps looking great and lasting a long time. After all, jumps can be expensive. Proper care will help you to get the most out of that expense.

  • Store your jumps off the ground. We live in a very wet state. Even though we use all pressure treated wood materials, water can and will eventually seep into every wood product. You can help delay this process long term by storing your jumps up off the ground when they're not in use. Go one step further by storing them off the ground, under a roof.

  • Wipe down your jumps. Every few months ( I  do every six months ) wipe down your jumps firmly with a wet cloth. You do not need to use any products. This will remove any dirt or grime, and keep your jumps looking bright and fresh. Removing dirt or grime build up is also important to help prevent any moisture building up directly against the paint, which would eventually break down the paint on those spots.

  • Touch ups. After years hard use, your jumps may need to have the paint touched up or even redone. You may have old jumps that really need to be completely repainted. CKC Horse Jumps offers repair and refinishing services, where we will repair, refinish, or repaint any wood jumps. Contact us for more information. When doing this yourself, it is important to sand away any old paint. We don't personally recommend applying solutions so that the paint can be scraped away. After sanding, wipe down the wood with a damp cloth to remove dust and paint particles, then perform any necessary repairs using all exterior, quality materials. Follow up with HQ exterior grade primer and paint. Follow the manufacturers directions regarding drying time for maximum durability, and your jumps will last you many more years to come.

Just a little extra care can ensure that your jumps last you as long as possible.
